The Awakened Wave Philosophy
At Awakened Wave, we're committed to helping you discover your own journey to a more adventerous life. Our unique approach is rooted in the belief that adventure is more than just physical challenges; it's a mindset that empowers you to step outside your comfort zone, embrace uncertainty, and live with intention.

We draw inspiration from ancient spiritual practices and modern scientific research to develop strategies that:
-
Ignite your inner explorer: We help you identify your passions, overcome fears, and discover the adventurous spirit within you.
-
Enhance your physical and mental well-being: Through adventure-based activities and mindfulness practices, we support your overall health and resilience.
-
Foster a deeper connection to nature and yourself: We believe that immersing yourself in the natural world can lead to profound personal growth and a sense of purpose.
Adventure Inspired
We love adventure! Not just grand adventures like cycling around the world, but smaller ones too that you can do from the comfort of your own home. One of the best things about adventure is that they are unique to you! There's no one definition that perfectly describes all adventures. So, if you call it an adventure, then it's an adventure...

At Awakened Wave, we see the power in adventure, and as such, have discovered that they are one of the most effective ways to promote good wellbeing. Adventure builds resilience, allows time in nature, enhances creativity, develops a growth mindset, and most importantly, they are super fun!

Our coaching methodologies won't force you into a massive once-in-a-lifetime adventure (however, if that's what you are interested in, we can 100% get you there). Instead, we take the lessons and principles learned from adventure and apply them to your life. This means that your life becomes the adventure, and best of all, it's unique to you!

The Awakened Paradox
At Awakened Wave, we recognise the dichotomy between many spiritual practices and the reality of modern life. How can we "Be present"; "Live in the moment" and "Let it go" all while continuing to pursue our future desires? There appears to be a paradox between "doing" and "being." We call this the Awakened Paradox, and it's innate to us all. In fact, numerous scientists have discovered it's hardwired into our biology.

Psychologist Dr. Lisa Miller* describes this as the Awakened and Achieving Brain. She relates this to the neurological and psychological states associated with spiritual experiences and personal growth. Dr. Lisa Miller's work emphasizes the interconnectedness of spirituality, psychology, and neuroscience. By exploring the awakened and achieving brain, you may gain insights into your own spiritual and psychological well-being, as well as avenues for personal development and growth.

The backbone of Awakened Wave's methodology takes inspiration from the work of Dr. Lisa Miller and several other experts. We teach you the skills necessary to navigate the intersection of spirituality and science while nourishing both your awakened and achieving brain. In doing so, you will discover new levels of peace, joy, and success!

What does "Awaked Wave" mean?
The name "Awakened Wave" takes inspiration from a beautiful quote by Peace Activist and Buddhist Monk, Thich Nhat Hanh. The TV series "The Good Place" performs a good rendition of this quote (you can watch it here), or you can read our interpretation below:

Consider a wave and all its intricacies: size, shape, and colour. Waves can vary from soft to powerful, clean to broken, shallow to steep. Each one possesses unique beauty, forever in constant motion. But where does one wave start and another end? Where does a wave merge with the ocean, and when does water transform into the wave? There exists no point at which one wave ends, and the next begins. Both are formed from the same water and are inseparable from the same ocean.

This is you. You are simultaneously an individual and part of the larger collective. You operate in daily life as a being with ambitions and desires, yet beneath, you exist as a boundless, open energy with no wants or fears. Both are real, and we can choose to operate from either; from the awakened or achieving brain.

You are the Awakened Wave.
